The Boholano’s, the People living on Bohol Island


The people which are living in Bohol are called Boholano; they are also called as Bol-anon. Boholano is different from Cebuano’s and the Boholano language is considered separate from Cebuano. Boholano is derived from the name of the province. Most of the Boholano culture has been influenced by the Culture of Spain and Indigenous Philippine traditions. The majority of the people that living in Bohol are believe in Roman Catholic religion. The people of Bohol are said to be the descendants of the last group of inhabitants who settled in the Philippines that is called pintados or tattooed ones. Boholano’s have reared both artistic talents and exceptional artist who rose to national stature and international distinction.
