Tagbilaran City is a first class
component city in the island province
of Bohol and it is serves
as its capital. This city is known as “The City of Friendship”. This city lies
on the southern part of Bohol and has a total
land area of 32.7 square kilometer and with about 13km of coastline. This is
also famous for its diving locations and routinely listed as one of the top ten
diving locations in the world.
Tagbilaran was established as a town on
February 9, 1742 when it was separated from the town of Baclayon. The town was dedicated to Saint
Joseph the Worker.
Tagbilaran name is derived from the two
words that meaning “to hide from the Moros”.
The city and the entire province of Bohol
are mainly served by the Tagbilaran
Airport.
The city of Tagbilaran is the main business capital and
center of governance education and transportation. It is also the main port of
the island.
